The Benedictional of Aethelwold

For Christmas 2018, Mary gave me a facsimile copy of "The Benedictional of Aethelwold" and not long after we got to see the real thing at a British Museum exhibition of Saxon illuminated manuscripts.  I found that exhibition incredibly moving, and wanted to produce some work in late Saxon style.  I did one as a blank and later used it for an award for Duncan Kerr (which is why the lettering looks as though it has not been designed for the piece... it wasn't!).  I did another for Valda, who has a Viking Persona... it's the sort of book Vikings might have looted, after all!  (In fact, being in a style still in fashion in the reign of Cnut, it is as much Danish as English).
